I’ve been using this tool for months, and it’s a great timeboxing app to improve your efficiency and time management. However, as I explained in my Motion app review, it is not for everyone.

Here are the best Motion app alternatives based on my experience:

• Reclaim AI: best for work-life balance.  It automatically blocks off time for tasks, meetings, and personal commitments to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance.
• Sunsama: best for time blocking and mindful task management. While Motion focuses on AI to manage your time, Sunsama provides a structured workflow for planning your day.
• Akiflow: best for team collaboration. It is a powerful productivity app with strong team collaboration features
• BeforeSunset.ai: an AI-powered productivity tool that focuses on mindful productivity by integrating tasks, notes, and calendar events into a cohesive daily schedule.
• Morgen: it focuses on enhancing daily productivity through a user-friendly interface
• Taskade: a collaborative task management tool that emphasizes real-time collaboration and organization. It is designed for teams and individuals looking to enhance productivity through structured workflows

Reclaim.AI

Like Motion AI, Reclaim AI is an advanced scheduling tool that leverages artificial intelligence to help you manage your time and tasks effectively.

So yes, it offers AI features like Motion, but they’re different daily planner apps.

After testing Reclaim AI for weeks, I can say it primarily focuses on protecting your individual time by managing tasks and meetings independently of your existing calendar.

It also offers features like blocking time for habits and individual focus, making it ideal for your personal productivity.

Motion is a complete replacement for your calendar, and it’s suitable for small-medium teams. Reclaim AI is more suited for professionals or managers with one-on-one meetings.

So, which one should you choose?

Go for Reclaim AI if you’re looking to improve your work-life balance and affordability, or for Motion if you need advanced productivity features and project management capabilities.

Unlike Motion, Reclaim AI offers a free plan, so you can test the tool and its features.

As you can see, Reclaim AI is cheaper than its competitors, but just remember that Motion offers more advanced features for project managers and

Sunsama is a daily planner calendar app that uses time boxing and time blocking to help you stay organized and productive.

It lets you break down your tasks into specific time blocks so you can see exactly what you need to do each day.

Compared to Motion, it doesn’t use AI to help you optimize your time; that’s because this tool has a different goal.

In fact, it encourages you to focus on essential tasks and avoid burnout by promoting realistic expectations about workload. It also has a shorter learning curve than Motion AI.

I suggest using Sunsama for freelancers and solopreneurs, while Motion is better for busy professionals and teams.

Akiflow

Akiflow is a daily planner app designed for busy professionals, merging task and calendar management into a single platform.

It is also a great Sunsama alternative.

Compared to Motion, it has a minimalistic interface and a shorter learning curve; that’s why I recommend it to professionals and all people who want to learn how to use a task management app fast.

Like Reclaim AI and Motion AI, Akiflow offers AI features but focuses on the automatic assignment of projects to tasks.

Akiflow offers a more manual approach to planning with guided rituals as Sunsama does. I don’t suggest it if you’re looking for a project management tool.

BeforeSunset.ai

BeforeSunset AI is a productivity app that helps users organize their day by combining tasks, notes, and events.

It focuses on creating a well-balanced schedule and allows users to allocate time for specific tasks.

I consider this tool especially helpful for people who feel overwhelmed by their to-do lists, and teams can also use it.

Compared to Motion, BeforeSunset AI focuses more on mindful productivity and personal routine management, offering features like time blocking and analytics to help users maintain a balanced workflow.

Anyway, the mobile app doesn’t work really well. Compared to the desktop app, is a real mess!

It is a suitable alternative to Motion for busy professionals, small teams, and freelancers.

Taskade

Talking about AI day planners, Taskade is an all-in-one productivity and collaboration tool designed to streamline workflows and enhance team efficiency.

It offers a variety of features, including task management, project templates, real-time collaboration, and AI-powered automation.

Compared to Motion, Taskade emphasizes task organization and communication, while Motion focuses on automating scheduling and prioritizing tasks using AI.

What I like about Taskade and Pricing

Taskade offers a free version to try out its features, including an AI assistant. For more advanced options, there are various personal and business plans starting at $5 per month

Todoist

Todoist is a task management tool known for its simplicity and user-friendly interface. I’ve been using it for almost a year and it’s a great to-do list app.

You can create projects, sub-projects, and sections to structure tasks. That’s why Todoist is also a great app for setting and tracking goals.

You can also view your productivity reports, giving you a deeper perspective about your milestones.

Recently, Todoist created the AI Assistant, which is a feature that uses artificial intelligence to enhance task management and productivity within the Todoist app. You can use it in the Pro and Business plan.

To be straightforward, I can say that Todoist is a more affordable, user-friendly option for basic task management and collaboration than Motion.

But of course, it doesn’t offer all these features, like the AI-scheduling assistant or options for scheduling meetings.

What I like about Todoist

Todoist offers three pricing plans: Free Plan , Pro ($4/month annually or $5/month), and Business ($6/user/month annually or $8/user/month).

Using the Free plan, you can create up to 5 projects and 5 collaborators with basic features.

The Pro enables 300 projects, 25 collaborators, reminders, labels, and 100 MB file uploads.

The business supports 500 projects, 250 collaborators, all Pro features, plus team billing and priority support.

ClickUp

ClickUp is an all-in-one productivity platform with features like task management, document collaboration, goal tracking, time tracking.

I think its biggest pro is the extensive customization, allowing users to tailor workflows to their specific needs. It also integrates with over 40 apps like Zapier, Slack, Google Calendar and many more.

I can say that Clickup is ideal for big teams and companies needing a full project management system with lots of options and connections.

ClickUp has an AI assistant that can create smaller tasks, summarize conversations, and make action lists. Although it has AI features, they’re not as crucial as Motion’s main focus on AI.

What I like about ClickUp

• Gantt Charts and Kanban boards to visualize project progress
• Collaboration tools
• Time estimates and time tracking to monitor how long tasks take
• ClickUp Brain and conversational AI

Talking about pricing, ClickUp offers five different plans:

Why consider an alternative to Motion AI?

I love Motion AI and have been using it for months.

However, as I explained in my review, I know that it is not the most suitable tool for everyone.

Here’s why you might want to try one of these best Motion alternatives in 2024:

• Complexity: As I’ve said before, Motion is a great app for busy professionals, managers, and teams, but it may be too complex for individuals or freelancers
• No free plan available: not everyone has the budget for a daily planning app. Here’s why I included compelling alternatives with a free plan
• Personal Focus: If you’re primarily managing personal tasks and defending your own time (rather than managing team projects or dependencies), a simpler tool like Reclaim AI might better suit your needs

What to look for when considering a Motion AI alternative?

• Simplicity: If Motion AI feels too complex, look for a tool with a more straightforward interface and fewer features, especially if you only need basic tasks or time management.
• Calendar Integration: Motion can handle all the calendars with one tool, and this is one of my favorite features. Decide if you want a standalone solution or an add-on that enhances your current calendar setup
• Cost: you may be looking for a cheaper or even free alternative to Motion

Is there an app better than Motion AI?

This is a tough question since I really like Motion.

I would say there are alternatives to consider that offer different features and benefits based on your need.

For instance, Reclaim.AI is cheaper than Motion and offers a free plan, while Sunsama and Akiflow are suited for individuals rather than teams.

You just need to find an app to suit your needs based on what you’re looking for you.

But honestly, I stick with Motion to manage my work agenda and appointments.

Which of these Motion competitors offer AI features?
